Cyclocross season is just around the corner, less than a month away to be exact. What have I been doing to get prepared? Well not as much as I should have been. All year so far I have been struggling to figure out what to do in the gym. First I decided to start body building. But after gaining 10 pounds in a month I decided the number on the scale and excessive belatedness (I had to eat ALOT!) was too much for me to continue with. So I cut back on the calories and upped my cardio and changed up my weight regime. Then I decided to have a go at a spokesmodel competition for Labrada Nutrition. I worked my a** off and made a lot of progress! With the support and photography skills of my gal Deb, I submitted my pictures and video. Needless-to-say, I didn’t win. When I saw my competition I knew that it would require a lot more work than I had put in. These girls were body builders!!!
So i decided to keep working on building lean muscle mass and getting back to cycling. Between work and life, I’ve not been in the gym or on the bike as much as I had hoped. A week away at RAGBRAI reminded me just how much I love to ride. My friend Becca ventured up from Florida to join me on the 7 day, vacation on two wheels, across Iowa. This was the BEST RAGBRAI to date for me! Riding all day, perfect weather, and “chicking” dudes on hills and in pace lines, not to mention meeting some excellent people and making new friends, I finally did RAGBRAI right! It only took me 3 years of riding the event to figure it out. One thing I realized during that week of riding, is that I’m a lot stronger than I used to be. That realization only sparked my desire to train harder. Well life gets in the way sometimes and this was especially true after returning back to adult/real life post RAGBRAI.
Sigh…..if only I didn’t have to be an adult!!!
It’s been nearly a month since RAGBRAI, It’s less than a month til CX season and I have a lot of ground to cover. So today marks the starting of proper training, healthier eating, and giving up bad habits-all while trying to find the right balance to make everything work. I’m trying desperately to get my personal training up and running so that can allow me more time to do the important stuff: study (school starts next week), spend time with my favorite peeps, workout, and still have a decent income.
With that being said, I’m going to try to start posting my daily workouts to the blog and change the focus a little bit more towards my personal training ‘business’. Sure this will continue to be my place for random ranting or rambling, but hopefully it will be of some use to anyone else trying to get fit or achieve a healthier lifestyle.
So with out further ado, this boring post will conclude and I shall begin posting of today’s crazy workout.
Keep pushing your limits and be the best version of your self that you can be.
