Tuesday SWOLE workout!

To be SWOLE, or not to be SWOLE, that is the question!

For those of you who know me, you understand that I am not remotely serious about the actual meaning of SWOLE. I’m one of those who uses the word because I find it extremely comical.  So, please do not think we are doing some massive gainer, weight lifting program with the goals of looking extremely muscular.  Not going to happen with this girl, I don’t eat enough protein, aka…MEAT!  So, I’m going to continue to use the SWOLE terminology and if you get a good chuckle out of it, then goal number 1 is complete.

Today’s workout is brought to you by Determination, Enthusiasm, and the never forgotten, Misery.  A close friend used to remind me to “learn to love the misery”.  That’s exactly what we’re doing here.  This morning was tough.  Getting out of bed after only hitting the snooze button once was torture.  Shuffling through the house to get organized then out the door to get to the gym on time was next to impossible.  However, somehow we persevered, arrived at the gym in plenty of time and immediately began punishing ourselves with heavy weights, low reps, and many sets.

Today was back day!

Smith Machine Rack Pull- 10 sets x 3 reps :30 rest

Seated Single Arm Cable Row- 6 sets x 5 reps :30 rest

Wide Grip Lat Pull Down- 5 sets x 6 reps :30 rest

Single Arm DB Row- 2 sets x 15 reps :30 rest

There were a few more on the agenda, however, Planet Fitness lacks free weights that we need for these. So will have to work around this and do some band work at home tonight to add a bit more workout.

I’m also training for a 10k that’s on April 16th, so today was a scheduled run day.  I absolutely detest running on the treadmill…but it had to happen. So plogged out 2 miles on the dreadmill before hitting the shower after a decent workout.

A lot-a-bit sore! Mostly low back muscles are feeling it, but it feels “fantastic”.

One thing we’re both lacking is sleep.  This 4am workout stuff is tough, and we’ve only started. I used to be so good at getting up this early and working out and so on, but there seems to never be enough sleep or time in the day or whatever it is, lately. Frustrating.  Trying to find the balance right now….so stay tuned for some advice, if I can locate some.  Giving up is not an option, so for now, taking this day-by-day and enjoying the misery along the way! (Hey that rhymes! yay!)
